Terroir and breeding
The ‘Les Tuvilains’ climat is located south of Beaune, near Pommard. The vines that produce this excellent 1er cru grow on brown limestone soil with alluvial deposits, facing south-east. The yield is 45hl/hectare. The vines are cultivated using organic farming techniques. Vinification: 17 days in temperature-controlled vats, followed by 16 to 20 months' ageing in French oak barrels and then bottling at the estate.
Tasting notes
The colour is purple, with beautiful depth. The nose is distinguished by a beautiful balance of red fruits, including raspberries, cherries and redcurrants. The palate reveals a well-structured, elegant body with notes of fruit mixed with slightly toasted oak, all combined with a beautiful persistence that gives this excellent Beaune 1er cru promising ageing potential.
This characterful Premier Cru will accompany characterful dishes, game, roasts and braised meats, or strong-flavoured cheeses such as Munster or Epoisses.
