    The domain

The Thevenot le Brun et fils estate is located in the heart of the Hautes Côtes region in the commune of Marey les Fussey, 7 km from Nuits Saint Georges and 10 km from Beaune. For more than 5 generations, the winegrowers have succeeded one another in this family estate whose history is linked to that of the Hautes Côtes.

The vineyard is spread over three appellations: Hautes Côtes de Nuits, Hautes Côtes de Beaune and Bourgogne Aligoté. The plots are all located within a radius of 2 km around the estate and have been cultivated for several generations. Practicing sustainable agriculture, very close to their terroir, Nicolas Thevenot and his team produce wines of exceptional quality, regularly awarded prizes in leading competitions.

    Terroir and breeding

The place called "Les RENARDES" is located in the commune of Marey les Fussey, in the steepest part of the south-facing hillside facing the village. This sunny terroir allows the vines to flourish and produce high quality grapes. This 25 year old plot is currently at the top of its production in terms of quality.

The vinification is classic with pumping over and pigeage. The vatting time is 15 to 20 days. This cuvée is matured in wood for about a year with most of the barrels being used for 1 to 2 wines.

    Tasting notes

The nose combines notes of black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry) and a spicy side. The tannic structure is solid in the first 3-4 years with always a nice finesse and a long finish. After 5 years the tannins are silky and the aromas become more complex with hints of undergrowth and game.

This wine can be kept for up to 10 years. It can be appreciated from the first years on the freshness of the tannins or wait about 5 years for the tannins to round off completely and for the tertiary aromas to appear.

This wine can be enjoyed with a filet of duck with blackcurrant or a filet mignon with redcurrants.
