The domain
Family property for three generations, it is in the know-how of the Burgundian tradition that the reputation of Domaine de la Feuillarde has been built.
The Thomas family knows the value of its heritage. They have known how to enhance the value of their heritage, developing on their estate, plot by plot, a rich palette of the great growths of Burgundy.
On this estate, the family house is nestled in the middle of the vines, we know how to cultivate with love the identity of a terroir and offer the best of its soul.
The estate is regularly awarded prizes for the excellence of its wines.
"I like clean, pure wines that express minerality, with fruity and floral notes, without excluding a certain fatness." Lucien Thomas, owner.
Terroir and breeding
Terroir situated on a Jurassic clay-limestone soil of quaternary formation. South, South-West exposure, maximum sunshine on the hillside. Average age of the vines: 40 years. Arcure and Guyot, working the soil, organic input, controlling the load of grapes. All the estate's wines come from a respectful agriculture within the framework of a reasoned protection.
Manual harvesting, grape reception by gravity, static cold settling, (soft) pneumatic pressing. Fermentation in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks, 100% malolactic fermentation. Due to its maturing in vats, it is looking for a maximum of freshness of fruit and finesse.
Tasting notes
Open nose, mouth in harmony with the aromas of the nose, peach, lemon. Frank and lively attack, good length. Bright light gold colour. Promising nose combining white fruits, vegetal notes and a touch of flint. Balanced palate proposing a slender, fine, dynamic style, which favours elegance and moderation.
To make the most of its freshness, it should be drunk within two to three years. Due to its structure, it can be aged for 4 to 5 years.
A successful wine, to be reserved for Asian cuisine. As an aperitif. It goes well with the simplest as well as the most refined dishes, white meat, medallions, shellfish, fish, fruit-based pastries.
